How much notice do you need to cater a birthday party?
Birthday parties are typically booked 1–3 months in advance, but we can often accommodate shorter notice when our calendar allows. Milestone birthdays (40th, 50th, 80th) and graduation-season weekends fill up fastest — call 412-258-5944 or 724-845-6247 to check availability.
How much food per guest for a birthday party?
We plan portions based on your guest count and party style. For sit-down family meals we size to one full plate per guest; for grazing/open-house parties we plan a bit more so guests can come back. Tell us how the party will run and we’ll size the spread accordingly.
Do you have kid-friendly options?
Yes — our Chicken Catering menu (tenders, fried chicken, sliders) is built for kids’ birthdays. We can also adjust spice levels on adult dishes, and our mac & cheese, roasted potatoes, and dessert trays cover the picky eaters.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies?
Yes. We have dietary- and allergy-friendly items for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other common restrictions. Please note we cannot guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur in our facility or during transport, so guests with severe allergies should be aware.
Do you provide birthday cakes?
Yes — our Dessert Catering menu includes sheet cakes, cookie trays, brownies, lady locks, and the Pittsburgh-style cookie table favorites. Tell us the birthday person’s flavor preference and we’ll work with you on a cake to match.
Can you set up at a backyard, rec room, or restaurant?
Absolutely. We deliver and set up at backyards, party rooms, community centers, church halls, VFW halls, and rented venues across the Pittsburgh area. Tell us the address and setup spot when you book, and we’ll come prepared for it.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is tiered by distance from the closest Cooked Goose kitchen (Oakdale or Leechburg):
- Within 10 miles — $55
- Beyond 10 miles — $65
- Beyond 20 miles — $75
- Beyond 30 miles — $85
- Beyond 40 miles — $95
Chafing units, when needed, are $14.95 per set. Full delivery terms are on our Terms of Service page.
How and when do we pay?
A $100 non-refundable deposit secures your date. We require a credit card on file, but for the balance we prefer checks — either mailed in prior to the event or handed to the driver on delivery. The full balance is due the day of your party.
Can we change the menu or guest count after booking?
Yes — we know RSVPs trickle in and surprise guests show up. Orders can be changed up to 7 days prior to your party to ensure our inventory orders meet the needs of your event. Final guest count, menu adjustments, and dietary additions need to be locked in at that point.
